Elie Wiesel, Nobel prize winning author and holocaust survivor who fought for peace, human rights and simple human decency, has died at the age of 87. He was quoted as saying “Wherever men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must – at that moment – become the center of the universe.”

That is quite a powerful vision of what it means to be leading a vocal, active life in the service of justice. When one is persecuted, all are persecuted.
