“I don’t know what will happen now. We’ve got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn’t matter…because I’ve been to the mountaintop…. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life…. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land.” – MLK, on the day before he was murdered. This holiday can’t be a feel good hagiographic spiritual bypass of the ongoing racial bullshit in our country. Excavating racism in ourselves and our communities, creating more awareness, more justice, less fear…and paying reparations are movements inside each of us. It will take a long time to atone, to at-one for the origins of our nation, but it’s begun. Every time we choose to do the right thing, we accelerate a just world for all beings. A good start might be doing the work of @[17841400006776580:6057:@resmaamenakem] on #somaticabolitionism – with #mygrandmothershands or his new book #thequakingofamerica. Whether you’re on the road or just beginning, it’s a daily practice to stay conscious of the biases beliefs stories archetypes at work in us. And we can do it. #thecontentofcharacter #mlkday #mlkquotes #belovedcommunity #oneforall #allforone
